Georgia took part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Valletta, Malta, on 20 November. The Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) organized their entry. Mariam Mamadashvili was selected to represent Georgia with the song Mzeo. Georgia had competed in Junior Eurovision since 2007 and had won twice before, in 2008 and 2011.

Georgia announced its participation on 17 August 2016. An open call ran from 17 August to 25 September, and a committee chose Mariam to represent Georgia, who was announced on 30 September 2016. The song Mzeo was presented on 24 October 2016.

Mariam Mamadashvili (born 16 November 2005) performed last on 20 November in a white dress with a yellow flower backdrop and won the contest with 239 points, a new high score for a Junior Eurovision winner at the time.

During the opening ceremony and running order draw on 14 November, Georgia was drawn to perform last, after Cyprus.

2016 also introduced a new voting format: there was no public televote. Points came from each country's Adult and Kids’ juries (50/50), announced by a spokesperson, with three expert jurors (Christer Björkman, Mads Grimstad, and Jedward) also presenting their votes.
