Alex Ketzko
Alexander Gregorieff Ketzko (November 19, 1919 – December 23, 1944) was an American football tackle from Chicago who grew up in Mattawan, Michigan. He played college football at Michigan State College (later Michigan State University) in 1938 and 1939. In 1940 he signed with the Paterson Panthers of the American Professional Football Association. He later joined the NFL, first signing with the New York Giants and then being traded to the Detroit Lions. He appeared in nine games in his rookie NFL season in 1943 and stayed with the Lions after a military draft ceremony that year. In 1944 he joined the U.S. Army and was sent to Europe with the 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Division, 7th Army. Private First Class Ketzko was killed in action in Alsace in December 1944 at age 25.
