George A. Schroeder
George A. Schroeder (February 21, 1894 – January 10, 1943) was a Democratic politician from Michigan. He served in the Michigan House of Representatives for Wayne County’s 1st district from 1933 to 1938 and was the 51st Speaker of the House from January 2, 1935, to September 16, 1938. Born in Detroit to Christian and Fredericka Schroeder, he attended public and parochial schools and worked as an engineer for the Packard Motor Car Company for ten years. Elected in 1932, Schroeder supported Governor Frank Murphy and the New Deal. He was reelected twice and led the House for his final four years. In 1938 he ran unsuccessfully for lieutenant governor. After leaving the Legislature, he became the manager of the Rural Electrification Administration in Ubly, Michigan. He was married to Olive. Schroeder died in 1943 at the age of 48.
