Hendrick V. Fisher
Hendrick Vastine Fisher (October 15, 1846 – April 19, 1909) was an American businessman and Republican politician in Illinois. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, attended Wyoming Seminary, and worked as a railroad clerk before moving to Illinois in 1868. He settled in Geneseo in 1869 and got involved in general merchandise and the manufacture of hardware and stoves.
Fisher served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1887 to 1891 and in the Illinois Senate from 1895 to 1899, where he was president pro tempore in 1897. He also served as aide-de-camp and was commissioned a colonel on the staff of Governor Joseph W. Fifer from 1889 to 1893.
He died after a stroke in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, in 1909 at the age of 62. He was the great-great-grandson of Hendrick Fisher, who was connected with Rutgers University.
