Guido Romano
Guido Giuseppe Romano (31 January 1888 – 18 June 1916) was an Italian gymnast who competed in the 1908 and 1912 Olympic Games. Born in Modena, he later served in the Italian army during World War I and was killed at the Battle of Asiago in 1916.
In the 1908 Olympics he competed in the individual all-around and finished 19th. In 1912 he was part of the Italian team that won the gold medal in the men’s team event (European system).
Romano also competed at the 1909 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, where the Italian team won bronze. Individually, he was retrospectively placed first on the rings, although no individual medals were awarded for those events at that time.
