George A. Abert
George A. Abert (October 22, 1840 – March 27, 1918) was an American iron founder, machine manufacturer, and Democratic politician from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was the first of eight children born to George Abert Sr. and Louisa Ackerman.
Abert worked as a manufacturer and businessman. He served as a Wisconsin state senator from Milwaukee from 1877 to January 1879. In 1879, he was the city commissioner of public works. He later served in the Wisconsin State Assembly twice, first from 1882 to 1883 and again from 1893 to 1894, representing Milwaukee districts (7th and 2nd).
He was married to Anna Marie Schmidtner (died 1911) and had four children: Louise Anna, Adeline, George Gideon, and Augusta. Abert died in Milwaukee and was buried at Forest Home Cemetery.
