Gemma Amor is a British author of horror fiction, a podcaster, and an illustrator. Since 2018 she has published two short-story collections, five novels, and edited a collection of stories. She co-created the horror podcast Calling Darkness and has contributed to The NoSleep Podcast and Shadows at the Door.

Her first published horror work came through The NoSleep Podcast after she heard about it from The Black Tapes. Her first story, “His Life’s Work,” appeared in season 10 in 2018. Later that year she released Cruel Works of Nature, a collection of short stories, some of which had appeared on NoSleep. Cruel Works of Nature was a finalist for the 2019 Indie Horror Book Awards for Best Collection.

In 2019 she published Dear Laura, her debut novel, which was a finalist for the Bram Stoker Award for First Novel. The book centers on Laura, who experiences trauma from an unknown letter writer over several years. Dear Laura was adapted into a multi-episode arc for The NoSleep Podcast.

Amor co-created Calling Darkness with Allison Brandt, S. H. Cooper, Desdymona Howard, Victoria Juan, and Charlotte Norup. The first season, written by Amor and Cooper, released in 2019, and Amor voices the character Gloria Smith in seasons 1 and 2.

In 2020 she helped edit We Are Wolves, a charity collection of short horror stories to raise funds for abuse survivors. The collection was praised for its quality and diversity of writing.

In 2022 she published Full Immersion, a sci-fi horror novel with Angry Robot. It follows Magpie during an experimental treatment for postpartum depression. The book was praised for its raw and honest portrayal of the topic and was shortlisted for the August Derleth Award in the 2023 British Fantasy Awards.
