Garrett Runion
Garrett Runion is an American college golf coach and former player. He is the head coach of LSU’s women's golf team in the Southeastern Conference.
Born in Orlando, Florida, Runion played for LSU from 2003 to 2008, serving as co-captain from 2006 to 2008 and competing in two NCAA Regionals.
He began his coaching career at Nova Southeastern, serving as an assistant in 2010-11 and then as head coach in 2011-12. In his lone season as head coach, he led Nova Southeastern to the NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship.
Runion joined LSU as an assistant coach for the men’s golf team in 2012-13 and remained in that role through the 2017-18 season, helping LSU win the 2015 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship.
In 2018, Runion was named head coach of LSU’s women’s golf program after Karen Bahnsen retired. The 2018-19 season was his first as the women’s head coach.
Notable honors include the NCAA Division II National Coach of the Year (2011-12), the Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year (2011-12), and the Eaton Golf Pride South Region Coach of the Year (2011-12).
Championships include the 2012 NCAA Division II national championship with Nova Southeastern and the 2015 NCAA Division I national championship with LSU.
