Chakyr 2-y
Chakyr 2-y is a rural village (selo) in Amginsky District, Sakha Republic, Russia. It is the only inhabited locality and the administrative center of Chakyrsky Rural Okrug and Chakyrsky Rural Settlement. The selo covers 1.304 square kilometers and sits on the right bank of the Amga River, about 15 kilometers from Amga, the district’s center.
Population has been declining: 686 people in 2002, 579 in 2010 (275 men and 304 women), and about 497 in 2016. Most residents were Yakuts in 2002 (about 96%). The village has a few streets, a secondary school named after S. S. Yakovleva-Erilik Eristina, a cultural center, and a post office. The climate is continental, with cold winters and relatively warm summers; winters can be very harsh. Time zone is UTC+9. Postal code is 678606.
