Fulvous-breasted woodpecker
Fulvous-breasted woodpecker (Dendrocopos macei) is a medium-sized woodpecker in the Picidae family. It is listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List. The bird is found in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, India and Myanmar, living in subtropical or tropical forests—dry forests as well as moist lowland and montane forests.
Appearance: Upperparts are black with heavy white bars. Undertail is red. The breast and belly are buff with light markings on the flanks and slight side streaks. The cheeks are whitish bordered by a black line. The crown is red in males (with an orange forehead) and black in females.
Notes: It was formerly considered the same species as the freckle-breasted woodpecker.
