Frederic Austin Ogg
Frederic Austin Ogg (February 8, 1878 – October 23, 1951) was an American political scientist. He was born in Solsberry, Indiana, and studied at DePauw University (Ph.B., 1899) before earning graduate degrees at Indiana University (A.M., 1900) and Harvard University (A.M., 1904; Ph.D., 1908). After teaching in high schools and colleges, he joined the University of Wisconsin in 1914 as an associate professor of political science, became a full professor in 1917, and led the department from 1925 to 1939. He edited the American Political Science Review from 1926 to 1949 and served as president of the American Political Science Association in 1940–1941. He married Emma Virginia Perry in 1903. Ogg wrote for popular magazines and published 17 books, earning a national reputation for his work in political science.
