Frank Vallis
Frank Vallis (5 May 1896 – September 1957) was an English football goalkeeper who played mainly for Bristol City. Born in Bristol, he started with Horfield United before turning professional in April 1919 with Bristol City, where he spent seven seasons and made 219 league appearances.
In 1926 he moved to Merthyr Town with teammate Charlie Sutherland and later played for Yeovil & Petters United. Vallis made his Merthyr debut on 28 August 1926 in a 0–3 defeat at Exeter City. Two days later, on 30 August 1926, he suffered a broken leg in a 3–2 win over Bristol Rovers at Penydarren Park. The injury led to 35-year-old player-manager Albert Lindon making 33 appearances in goal during the 1926–27 season.
After retiring from playing, Vallis coached football and cricket at Monkton Combe School in Bath, where he was affectionately known as "Pro Vallis." He also served as chairman of Monkton Combe parish council. He died in Bath, Somerset, England in September 1957 at the age of 61.
