Jan Dalhuisen
Jan Hendrik Dalhuisen (born 19 July 1943) is a Dutch legal scholar, jurist and author who works mainly in international commercial and financial law. He was born in Dalfsen, the Netherlands. He studied at the University of Amsterdam, where he earned his degrees, including a PhD in 1968 with the thesis “Compositions in Bankruptcy: A Comparative Study of the Laws of the E.E.C. Countries, England and the U.S.A.” He also has a degree from UC Berkeley. Since 1985 he has been a corresponding member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. Dalhuisen has served as an arbitrator with ICSID and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London. He has taught at several universities. He is the author of important books such as Dalhuisen on International Insolvency and Bankruptcy and Dalhuisen on Transnational and Comparative Commercial, Financial and Trade Law.
