Frank Lewis (broadcaster)
Frank Lewis, CM, OPEI (born 1939) is a Canadian broadcaster and politician who served as the 28th lieutenant governor of Prince Edward Island, the Queen’s representative in the province. He held the office from August 15, 2011, to October 20, 2017.
Born in York, Prince Edward Island, Lewis began his broadcasting career at CFCY-FM in Charlottetown in 1966 and rose to vice president and general manager before retiring in 2004. He later worked as a senior advisor for Newcap Radio.
Lewis was appointed Lieutenant Governor on July 28, 2011, on the advice of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and was sworn in on August 15, 2011, at Province House by Chief Justice David Jenkins. As lieutenant governor, he served as chancellor of the Order of Prince Edward Island.
He was preceded by Barbara Oliver Hagerman and succeeded by Antoinette Perry in 2017. He was inducted into the Canadian Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2006. He is married to Dorothy.
