Fortress Hill (Chinese: 炮台山; Cantonese: paau3 toi4 saan1) is a hill and neighborhood on the north coast of Hong Kong Island. It includes parts of North Point (west of Oil Street) and Causeway Bay (east of Oil Street). The area has private homes, offices, hotels, and serviced apartments. The names Oil Street and Shell Street come from an oil depot built by Royal Dutch in 1897; the depot closed in 1981. Fortress Hill is served by Fortress Hill MTR station, the Hong Kong Tramways along King's Road, and several buses and minibuses. Major streets include King's Road, Electric Road, Island Eastern Corridor, Fortress Hill Road, Oil Street, Shell Street, and Merlin Street.
