Fonkia
Fonkia is a small group of flowering plants in the Plantaginaceae family. It has only one species, Fonkia uliginosa. This plant grows in central and southern Chile and southwestern Argentina. The genus is named after Chilean doctor Francisco Fonk (1830–1912). The species name uliginosa comes from Latin and means “of marshes” or damp places. Fonkia was first described in 1860 in Linnaea (volume 30, page 198).
