Flight from Paradise
Flight from Paradise (Italian: Fuga dal paradiso; French: La fuite au paradis; Spanish: La fuga del paraíso; German: Ausbruch aus dem Paradies) is a 1990 post-apocalyptic science fiction film directed by Ettore Pasculli, who also co-wrote it with Lucio Mandarà. The movie was produced by Luciano Luna, Claudia Mori, and Pupi Sambati, and stars Fabrice Josso, Inés Sastre, and Horst Buchholz. Cinematography is by Alfio Contini, editing by Ruggero Mastroianni, and music by Michel Legrand.
The film is a joint production of Italy, France, Spain, and Germany. It was shot at Cinecittà in the summer of 1989, with a budget of about 6 billion lire. It premiered at the 47th Venice International Film Festival, in the Fuori programma section.
Reception was mixed. Variety called it a bizarre, incoherent sci‑fi yarn and questioned who the film was for, noting some scenes seem aimed at children while there is a lot of explicit violence for adults. Maurizio Porro of Corriere della Sera said it has a few seductive images but overall feels like an expensive confusion.
