Flexal virus
Flexal virus, also called Flexal mammarenavirus or FLEV, is a mammal-infecting virus in the arenavirus family. It belongs to the New World group of arenaviruses (Clade A) and was first found in semiaquatic rodents of the Oryzomys genus in Pará, Brazil. People who work in laboratories and are exposed to Flexal virus have developed fever. The virus is listed as UN 2814 Category A, meaning it is a highly dangerous infectious substance. It was previously known in the lab as BeAn 293022.
