1987–88 United States network television schedule

The 1987–88 primetime schedule covers ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox from September 1987 through August 1988. It includes, for each network, returning series, new series, and series canceled after the 1986–87 season. This season marks Fox’s first full prime-time rollout since it began in 1986 (it had been limited to late nights until April 1987); Fox would air only on Saturdays and Sundays through spring 1989. PBS is not included; local stations control schedules, so air times can vary.

All times are Eastern or Pacific Time (subtract one hour for Central, Mountain, Alaska, and Hawaii–Aleutian times). From February 13 to 28, 1988, ABC’s primetime programming was preempted for the Calgary Winter Olympics.

The list also notes the 30 highest-rated shows with their Nielsen rankings and ratings. In the network lists, new series are shown in bold and series ending their network runs are shown in italics. Notes explain special cases: returning series that came back in first-run syndication after cancellation (marked with ^), midseason introductions (marked with *), and shows that returned as backup programming in midseason (marked with +). One entry references a show formerly titled Valerie (noted as @).
