FC Coburg
FC Coburg is a football club from Coburg, Bavaria. It was founded on 8 September 2011 as a phoenix club of DVV Coburg, which itself came from VfB Coburg and other local clubs with roots dating back to 1909. DVV Coburg faced financial problems and was dissolved in 2012, so FC Coburg started in 2011 by taking over DVV’s players, licenses, and youth academy.
The team plays at Dr.-Eugen-Stocke-Stadion, which seats about 4,500. The club is led by chairman Walter Luft and managed by Lars Scheler. FC Coburg carries on the traditions of DVV Coburg and aims to climb higher in the football pyramid, hoping to emulate the former glory of VfB Coburg.
FC Coburg has a strong youth system, including a reserve team (FC Coburg II) and 12 youth teams ranging from under-7 up to the senior level. In 2014-15, the club won the Bezirksliga Oberfranken West and earned promotion to the Landesliga, continuing their efforts to rise through the leagues.
