Tom Savage (bishop)

Thomas Joseph Savage (5 February 1900 – 22 October 1966) was an Anglican bishop who served in both England and South Africa. He was educated at Highgate School and Peterhouse, Cambridge, and was ordained in 1927. After a curacy at St John’s, Waterloo Road, he worked with the South African Church Railway Mission and then as a Toc H padre. He later became rector of Springs in Transvaal, then vicar of Leominster, and finally Tait Missioner for the Diocese of Canterbury. In 1955 he was appointed dean of Cape Town, and in 1958 he became the bishop of Zululand, a position he held until his death in 1966.
