Expedition to Earth
Expedition to Earth is a collection of science fiction short stories by Arthur C. Clarke, published in 1953. Different editions have slightly different contents. In both, the stories "History Lesson" (1949) and "Encounter in the Dawn" (1953) are included, but only one of these appears as a standalone story in each edition; the other is included under the title "Expedition to Earth."
The collection was well received by critics. Anthony Boucher and J. Francis McComas named it one of the best science fiction books of 1953, praising its humor, technical ideas, and overall excellence. Groff Conklin said the stories are continuously fascinating and show Clarke’s versatility. P. Schuyler Miller called it an excellent collection that spans Clarke’s talents. R. W. Wallace of the Hartford Courant said the stories show Clarke as a more skilled literary artist than in his novel Childhood’s End.
