Eva Kleinitz (January 16, 1972 – May 30, 2019) was a German opera director. Her productions were seen in Austria, Germany, Belgium and France. She was born in Langenhagen near Hanover and grew up in Hanover. As a teenager, she wrote to the director of the Staatsoper Hannover and got an internship there. After studying singing and theatre, she became assistant director at the Bregenz Opera in Austria in 1991. From 1998 to 2006 she worked at the Bregenzer Festspiele, first as casting director, then artistic director, and later deputy director. From 2006 to 2010 she was director of artistic planning at the Théâtre Royal La Monnaie in Brussels. From 2011 to 2017 she was Deputy Director of the Staatsoper Stuttgart. In October 2013 she became chair of the Opera Europa network, the first woman in that role. In 2016 she was chosen to direct the Opéra national du Rhin in Strasbourg, starting in September 2017. She died in Strasbourg on May 30, 2019 after a long illness.
