Homesick is a 3:25-long country song by Kane Brown from his second album, Experiment. It was released as the third single on August 5, 2019, by RCA Nashville. Brown co-wrote it with Brock Berryhill, Matt McGinn and Taylor Phillips, and Dann Huff produced it. The song is about missing loved ones while on the road, inspired by Brown’s experiences and dedicated to military families. The idea came after a tattoo artist suggested the word “homesick” on his knuckles, and he began writing on his tour bus before a Charlotte, NC show. It first appeared on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart at No. 24 in September 2018, before its single release, and later reached No. 1 on Country Airplay in March 2020, Brown’s fifth straight chart-topper. By March 2020 it had sold about 136,000 copies in the US. On December 7, 2023, the RIAA certified the single triple platinum for over three million units. The music video premiered September 20, 2018, showing Brown performing for the California National Guard and including homecoming clips with service members and their families.
