2014 Canadian Figure Skating Championships
The 2014 Canadian Tire National Skating Championships took place January 9–15, 2014 in Ottawa, Ontario at the Canadian Tire Centre (then called Scotiabank Place). Skate Canada organized the event, with Canadian Tire as the sponsor. Skaters competed for national titles in four disciplines—men’s singles, women’s singles, pair skating, and ice dancing—across senior, junior, and novice levels. The competition helped determine Canada’s teams for major events in 2014, including the Winter Olympics, World Championships, Four Continents, and World Junior Championships. Ottawa hosted the 100th anniversary of the championships. Defending champions going in were Patrick Chan (men), Kaetlyn Osmond (women), Meagan Duhamel / Eric Radford (pairs), and Tessa Virtue / Scott Moir (ice dance). The Olympic and other teams were announced in early 2014: Olympic team on January 12; Four Continents on January 20; World Junior on March 7; and the World Championships on March 20.
