Ram (biblical figure)
Ram (Hebrew: Rām) is a figure in the Hebrew Bible. He is the son of Hezron and an ancestor of King David. He is mentioned mainly in genealogies, with Ruth 4:19 saying, “Hezron the father of Ram, Ram the father of Amminadab.” In Matthew 1:3-4 and Luke 3:33, Ram appears in the genealogies of Jesus, where his name appears as Aram or Arni in Greek. Ram’s life details are not known beyond his place in the family line. Hezron, his father, was a descendant of Jacob who went to Egypt, so Ram would have grown up there before the Exodus. Ram’s older brother Jerahmeel named his firstborn son Ram.
