Mohammed Abdalbari
Mohammed Abdelbari (محمد عبدالباري), born January 12, 1985, in Al-Manaqil, Sudan, is a Sudanese poet and writer. He grew up in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he completed his education. He earned a bachelor's degree in Arabic Language and Literature in Riyadh and later a master's degree from the University of Jordan in Amman, focusing on poetry in Islamic philosophy and the work of logicians, theologians, and rhetoricians.
Abdelbari’s poetry is influenced by Sufism and philosophy. He has published three poetry collections and has received several major awards, including the Sharjah Award for Arab Creativity (2013), the African Arab Youth Award (2016), and the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal International Award for Arabic Poetry (2019). His work is studied in universities and performed across the Arab world, and it has been translated into other languages. In February 2023, ArabLit published English translations of four of his poems, describing his work as a journey through the Arabic poetic landscape from Jahiliya to the present.
