John Emmet French (November 22, 1886 – June 10, 1947) was an American professional golfer from Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He was tall and known for his precise iron play, and he reportedly played many rounds without ever using a wooden club. French won four professional tournaments in his career—three on the PGA Tour and one other event. His best major finish was second at the 1922 PGA Championship, where he lost to Gene Sarazen. He also placed fourth at the 1927 U.S. Open and tied for eighth at the 1926 Open Championship, and he withdrew from the 1934 Masters. He died in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, at age 60.
