Elizabeth Threatt
Elizabeth Coyote Threatt (April 12, 1926 – November 22, 1993) was an American model and actress. She is best known for starring in Howard Hawks's 1952 film The Big Sky, where she plays a Native American princess caught in a love triangle with Kirk Douglas and Dewey Martin. It was her only film, and all her spoken lines are in the film’s Native language. Hawks discovered her and cast her to help a trade deal between white traders and Native people. After this film, she left acting. Threatt was born in Kershaw, South Carolina, the daughter of William Threatt, a Cherokee who worked for the U.S. Army, and Bessie Pearl Furr. She died in Concord, North Carolina, at age 67.
