Kathleen Petty
Kathleen Petty is a Canadian radio and television journalist. She spent nearly 20 years with CBC News Network, helping launch CBC Newsworld in 1989 and serving as anchor. She also hosted Canada Now and co-hosted CBC News: Today from Calgary with David Gray.
From 2006 to 2011, Petty worked in Ottawa for CBC Radio Ottawa, hosting Ottawa Morning, Ontario Today, and the nationally broadcast The House. In 2011 she moved back to Calgary to host CBC Radio Calgary’s Calgary Eyeopener.
Petty has regularly contributed to CBC’s federal election coverage and has appeared on Power and Politics. By 2020 she was the Executive Producer of News for CBC Calgary. In 2019 CBC announced she would produce and host a new Calgary-based, election-focused podcast called West of Centre; the show launched in 2020 with Petty as producer and host. Guests have included energy executives and Alberta politicians.
In August 2011, Petty announced a health issue that delayed her move to Calgary. A 2012 interview revealed she had breast cancer and undergone a double mastectomy; she said she wanted to share her experience to help other women.
