Ekeby Church, Uppland
Ekeby Church is a medieval church in Östhammar Municipality, Uppsala County, Sweden. It belongs to the Church of Sweden. The oldest part is the sacristy, north of the nave, dating to the late 1200s or early 1300s and probably from an earlier wooden church. The main part of the church, a single nave, was built around 1430–1460. The church porch, added a bit later, was likely part of the original design and still contains the door from the old wooden church (late 1200s). Inside, the vaults feature frescoes from about 1515–1525, which were plastered over in the 18th century and uncovered again in 1927 during a renovation. The baptismal font is from the late 1200s, while most other fittings are from after the Reformation.
