Pembroke was a local government area beside Dublin city in County Dublin, Ireland. It was established in 1863 by the Pembroke Township Act to govern parts of the Pembroke Estate, owned by the Earl of Pembroke. Much of the township was estate land, and the estate’s agent served as an ex officio commissioner, with the remainder elected by property owners. In 1899, Pembroke became an urban district.

The area included Ballsbridge, Donnybrook, Sandymount, Irishtown, and Ringsend. Ringsend was an old fishing village, Irishtown a working‑class industrial area, and the others were mainly affluent residential neighbourhoods. Pembroke Town Hall was built on Merrion Road in Ballsbridge and opened in 1880; previously the offices were at Ballsbridge Terrace. The town hall later housed the City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee.

In 1930, Pembroke Urban District was dissolved and its area was merged into the City and County Borough of Dublin, becoming part of Dublin city. The Pembroke Library on Ballsbridge is run by Dublin City Council, and Pembroke is still used as the name of a local electoral area for Dublin City Council elections.
