1886 men's tennis season
The 1886 men's tennis season had 154 tournaments, running from 7 March to 30 December. It began in Auckland, New Zealand and ended in Napier, New Zealand, where the first New Zealand Championships were held.
The four most important tournaments of the year produced these results:
- Irish Lawn Tennis Championships (Dublin): Herbert Lawford beat Willoughby Hamilton in four sets to win his third straight title.
- Wimbledon Championship: William Renshaw defeated Herbert Lawford in four sets to claim his sixth consecutive title.
- Northern Championships (Liverpool): Harry Grove defeated James Dwight in straight sets.
- US National Championship: Dick Sears beat Robert Livingston Beeckman in four sets for his sixth consecutive US title.
New developments:
- In the United States, three regional championships were held for the first time: New England, Northwestern, and Southern Championships.
- In New Zealand, the New Zealand Championships were staged for the first time in Napier.
Season leaders:
- Willoughby Hamilton and Robert Livingston Beeckman were joint leaders in titles, each winning six.
- Robert Beeckman reached the most finals, eight in total.

- Some matches used a challenge round, where the previous year’s champion played only one final match against the current winner.
