Edward Linggu
Edward Linggu, born Edward bin Bukut on December 20, 1958, is a Malaysian politician from Sabah. He has been a Senator since December 2024, serving in the federal Parliament as part of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah coalition under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Linggu previously served as the Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly for Tamparuli from 1999 to 2004.
He is a leader in the Homeland Solidarity Party (STAR), where he has held top roles. Linggu has been STAR’s Secretary-General since November 2021 and was its Vice President from 2018 to 2021. His political journey began with PBS, which he left in 2001 to join PBRS with Jeffrey Kitingan. He later joined STAR, earning leadership positions including Vice President and, eventually, Secretary-General and Strategy Director. He contested the Tamparuli seat again in the 2013 Sabah state election but did not win. Linggu is a Malaysian citizen and has been affiliated with groups including PBS, PBRS, STAR, and the broader Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition.
