Amanita crenulata, commonly known as the poison champagne amanita, is a poisonous or psychoactive mushroom found in the Northeast United States. It forms a mycorrhizal relationship with trees, living in the soil around roots. Key features: cap is flat; gills are adnate (attached to the stem); the stem has a ring; the spore print is white. Taxonomy: Kingdom Fungi; Division Basidiomycota; Class Agaricomycetes; Order Agaricales; Family Amanitaceae; Genus Amanita; Species A. crenulata. The binomial name is Amanita crenulata. Ingesting this mushroom can cause symptoms related to ibotenic acid and muscimol toxicity.
