Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996
Sweden participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996 in Oslo with the song Den vilda, performed by One More Time. The song was written by Peter and Nanne Grönvall. Sweden’s entry was chosen by SVT through Melodifestivalen 1996, held on 24 February in Stockholm. Ten songs competed and Den vilda won after votes from 11 regional juries.
In 1996 there was a one-off audio-only pre-qualification round for the songs. Sweden’s Den vilda topped this round and qualified for the final.
In the Eurovision final, Sweden performed last among 23 acts, finishing third with 100 points, behind Ireland (winner) and Norway (runner-up).
