Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park
Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park is a non-profit cemetery located in Livonia, Michigan, with parts in Macomb Township. It began in 1929 when a small group of investors started the cemetery. In 1932, ownership and operation were taken over by four Lutheran churches.
The St. Gabriel Mausoleum was designed by the Dallas-based architectural firm J. Stuart Todd, an international firm with many cemetery projects. McCarthy & Smith, Inc. of Farmington Hills built the mausoleum. These firms also helped develop Glen Eden East in Macomb Township, the first new cemetery in the county in more than three decades.
Around the Chapel are four traditional burial gardens, each with a distinct theme. The Garden of Faith, Garden of Hope, and Garden of Resurrection offer individual and family lots. The Pastors Point Garden is reserved for Lutheran pastors and their spouses, and the Garden of Valor honors veterans and their spouses.
In June 1962, Lutheran War Veterans Auxiliary, Gold Star Mothers, and Blue Star Mothers dedicated Glen Eden’s Veteran’s Monument, which is now the centerpiece of the Garden of Valor. To honor veterans buried elsewhere, a cenotaph memorial surrounds the large flagpole in Memorial Plaza Boulevard, featuring a bronze bas-relief sculpture of those who have served.
