Bridgtown

Bridgtown is a village and civil parish in Cannock Chase District, Staffordshire, England. It lies on the A5 road between Cannock and Great Wyrley and has industrial estates, retail areas, and homes. The parish council says Bridgtown can be described as either a village or an area. There is one church here, Bethel Church; a former church on Church Street is now used for business purposes. The Chase Line railway passes just south of Bridgtown, with Cannock as the nearest station; a planned new station for Bridgtown and Churchbridge was cancelled in 2005 due to lack of funding. Chaserider bus service 1 runs to Huntington, Cannock and Great Wyrley. The population was 1,284 at the 2011 census, and the area covers about 9.24 square kilometres (3.57 square miles).
