East Mountain, Texas
East Mountain is a small city in Upshur and Gregg counties in East Texas. It sits on a 660-foot wooded summit called East Mountain, overlooking the community. The city is about 10 miles northwest of Longview and 7 miles northeast of Gladewater. It covers around 2 square miles, with almost all of it land and only a tiny bit of water.
As of the 2020 census, East Mountain had 899 residents, up from 797 in 2010. There were 324 households and 250 families at that time.
Most of the city lies in the Gilmer Independent School District, with a small portion in Union Grove Independent School District. The Gregg County part of East Mountain is in the Longview Independent School District. Kilgore College serves students in Gilmer, Longview, and Union Grove ISDs.
