Ancylotrypa rufescens
The Roodeplaat wafer-lid trapdoor spider (Ancylotrypa rufescens) is a spider found only in South Africa. It lives in silk-lined burrows in the savanna and is a ground-dweller.
It has been found in Gauteng, Limpopo, and North West provinces, with the type locality at Roodeplaatdam. It lives at elevations from about 1,051 to 1,439 meters above sea level. Both males and females have been described.
The species is listed as Least Concern on the South African Red List and is considered widespread, though identifying it can be tricky. It is protected in Roodeplaatdam Nature Reserve.
