Earth Heroes Award
Earth Heroes Awards were started in 2011 by the Royal Bank of Scotland in partnership with the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA). The awards cover several categories, with finalists chosen by a panel of experts from conservation, biodiversity, science, government, and media, along with representatives from the Royal Bank of Scotland, the National Biodiversity Authority, and the Bombay Natural History Society. The RBS Earth Heroes Awards 2014 were announced at a ceremony on 4 November at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) in New Delhi. A Special Mention was given to the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (Darjeeling Zoo), India’s largest high-altitude zoo, established on 14 August 1958.
