Katherine Walsh (actress)
Katherine Victoria Walsh (April 11, 1947 – October 7, 1970) was an American actress best known for playing Lulu in the 1967 Roger Corman film The Trip. She was born in Kenton County, Kentucky, the oldest of five children. Her father, Thomas Walsh, was a businessman who died in 1965 in a plane crash.
Walsh studied at Villa Madonna Academy, Dixie Heights High School, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, and the University of London. She was discovered at Paramount Studios by a William Morris agent and was signed to Columbia Pictures at age 17. She made her film debut in The Chase (1966) and appeared on TV in The Monkees (pilot episode “Royal Flush”), The Virginian, and Daniel Boone. Her final acting role was Lulu in The Trip (1967).
Walsh died on October 7, 1970, at a party in her flat in Kensington, London. The coroner recorded an open verdict, noting alcohol and barbiturate poisoning as the cause but could not determine whether it was suicide or accident. She was 23.
