Dorothy Carrington Thompson CBE (born 18 November 1960) is a British businesswoman. She was chief executive of the Drax Group, a major electricity generator, from 2005 to 2017. She is now non-executive chairman of Tullow Oil and a director of Eaton Corporation plc. She studied at the London School of Economics, earning a BSc in 1983 and an MSc in Economics. Earlier in her career she was assistant group treasurer at Powergen and head of European business at InterGen NV. In August 2014, she became a non-executive director of the Bank of England. Also in 2014, she was honoured as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire. She is married and has two children.
