Diocese of Mexicali
Diocese of Mexicali (Latin: Dioecesis Mexicalensis) is a Roman Catholic diocese in northern Mexico. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Tijuana, with its cathedral at Our Lady of Guadalupe. The diocese covers 22,788 square miles (59,020 km2) and serves about 1,317,533 Catholics (77.3% of a total population of 1,705,001 as of 2004) in 51 parishes. It follows the Roman Rite.
Established on March 25, 1966, the diocese is part of the Roman Catholic Church in Mexico. It used to be part of the Archdiocese of Hermosillo until November 25, 2006, when it became a suffragan of Tijuana. The current bishop is Enrique Sánchez Martínez. The diocese’s metropolitan see is the Archdiocese of Tijuana. Website: diocesisdemexicali.org.
