Din of Ecstasy is Chris Whitley’s second studio album, released in 1995 by Work Records and Columbia Records. It marks a move toward louder, Hendrix-inspired rock after his debut. The album runs about 47 minutes and 31 seconds. It was produced mainly by John Custer, Chris Whitley, and Dougie Bowne. Recording was done by Steve Melton with assistants Danny Kadar and Kent Bruce, and it was mixed by Toby Wright at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Alabama and at several New York City studios. In 2014, Danny Kadar released an alternative version on SoundCloud without the extra effects used on the official release. All songs were written by Chris Whitley; the singles were O God My Heart Is Ready and Din. Din of Ecstasy sits between Living with the Law (1991) and Terra Incognita (1997) in Whitley’s discography.
