Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji
Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji is an Indian drama series created by Gul Khan for 4 Lions Films. It aired on StarPlus from 15 January to 9 August 2019 and is available on Disney+ Hotstar. The main cast includes Jasmin Bhasin, Ansh Bagri, Donal Bisht and Aru Krishansh Verma.
Plot: Happy Mehra is a cheerful middle-class girl who clashes with Rocky Khosla, a charming but arrogant man. Rocky’s brother Chintu loves Happy, and they marry after he confesses his feelings, but Chintu dies in an accident. Rocky is blamed by his father and starts a hotel with Happy, turning their relationship into friendship. Lawyer Ranvijay Shroff falls for Happy. Rocky is jailed for ten years after being falsely accused of molesting Smiley, Happy’s sister. Three years later, Happy runs the hotel and grows closer to Ranvijay. After Rocky escapes, he realises his love for Happy, but Ranvijay’s obsession leads him to kill Rocky’s brother Ranveer and Ranveer’s girlfriend Anaya. Believing everyone she loves dies because of her, Happy fakes her own death to protect them and to put Ranvijay in jail. Six years later, she returns as a radio host named Khushi, while Rocky is married to Harleen. Harleen dislikes Rocky and has a son, Honey. Honey runs away and meets Happy, who learns Honey is Rocky’s son. Rocky discovers Happy is alive; Harleen dies saving Honey. Happy and Rocky eventually marry.
Production notes: The show included a six-year leap, and in June 2019 Jasmin Bhasin was replaced by Donal Bisht because Bhasin was uncomfortable playing a mother onscreen. The creators stated they wanted everyone to be comfortable. The series also aired as Happy Hearts on Star Life Africa.
