Trumpet Extraordinary

Trumpet Extraordinary is Rafael Méndez’s thirteenth studio album, released in 1957 on Decca (DL-8427). The recording features Méndez joined by his twin sons, Robert and Ralph Méndez, who were nineteen years old and medical students at Stanford at the time. The brothers had previously toured with their father in Europe (1954–1955). The program combines trumpet solos and trios of classical pieces, including some works arranged by Méndez himself, such as Polka in the Box and the Tre-Mendez Polka, along with other pieces like The Brave Matador and Cara Nome.
