YouFit
YouFit Gyms is a private health-club chain in the United States. It was founded in 2008 by Rick Berks, with the first location in St. Petersburg, Florida, and today the company is based in Deerfield Beach, Florida. As of 2021, YouFit operates about 80 gyms across 10 states, with Florida, Arizona, Texas, and Georgia hosting the most locations. Other states with YouFit gyms include Alabama, Louisiana, Virginia, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.
Brian Vahaly, a private equity executive and former professional tennis player, has been CEO since 2021 and helped guide the company out of bankruptcy during the pandemic. In 2020, YouFit filed for bankruptcy protection amid several class-action lawsuits and claims related to charging members during pandemic closures. Earlier, in 2016, the Florida Attorney General reached a consent order with YouFit over complaints about advertising, billing, and collection practices. In October 2021, the company underwent a rebrand.
YouFit offers on-site personal training, nutrition resources through EatLove, and YouFit On Demand, a series of virtual classes for at-home workouts. The Better Business Bureau rated YouFit an F as of 2023. The chain has received awards such as Best Cheap Gym Membership in 2020 and Best Gyms in Baltimore in 2021.
