Dex Takes a Holiday

Dex Takes a Holiday is the fourth episode of Dexter’s fourth season. It aired on Showtime on October 18, 2009. It was written by Melissa Rosenberg and Wendy West and directed by John Dahl.

In this episode, Rita takes the kids out of town for a wedding, giving Dexter a three-day break to hunt a new suspect.

Plot
- Dexter targets Zoey Kruger, a Pembroke Pines police officer suspected of killing her husband and child. He searches for evidence, visits Zoey’s house, and finds blood and gunshot residue. Zoey learns Dexter’s job and warns him to stay away.
- The Trinity Killer storyline continues. Trinity taunts a man outside a bar, and Lundy tracks a hotel connected to a murder from thirty years ago, but Trinity evades him.
- Dexter tries to lure Zoey by asking for Darius Rey’s file. Zoey follows him to a gas station and confronts him. Dexter implies he knows she killed her family; Zoey threatens to accuse him of rape, which Dexter counters with the pattern evidence.
- Debra and Lundy’s relationship is in flux. Debra wrestles with her feelings for Lundy, and she has sex with Anton.
- That night, Zoey sneaks into Dexter’s house to kill him but he sedates her and stages her fleeing the country to close the case. He believes Zoey killed her family to escape responsibility and then kills Zoey.
- Back home, Debra and Lundy talk after the hotel encounter. A mysterious assailant shoots Lundy and wounds Debra in the hotel parking lot; Lundy is killed, and Debra is left critically injured. The shooter robs Lundy and flees.
