Destroy Lonely, whose real name is Bobby Wardell Sandimanie III, was born on July 30, 2001, in Atlanta, Georgia. He is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter who goes by several stage names, including Lonely, Lone, Top Floor Boss, Look Killa, and DL. He makes Southern hip-hop, trap, rage, and emo rap.

He started making music at 14, recording in his school studio with friends Texaco and Nezzus. Their early project, NezzusDestroyed, helped him gain attention with the 2019 song “Bane.” In 2020 he released the mixtape
Destroy Lonely released another breakthrough mixtape, No Stylist, in 2022, featuring Ken Carson. In 2023 he issued his debut studio album, If Looks Could Kill, which reached number 18 on the US Billboard 200. A deluxe edition came out later that year, and in 2023 he also released a short film called Look Killa.

In 2024 his second studio album, Love Lasts Forever, peaked at number 10 on the Billboard 200 and hit number 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. He has continued releasing music and collaborating with Ken Carson and other artists. In 2025 he appeared on Ken Carson’s album More Chaos and released new projects, including the EP See U Soon
Destroy Lonely is known for his dynamic, loud instrumentals and his dark, fashion-forward stage presence. His production often uses ambient synths, guitar riffs, orchestral samples, and even video game music. Lyrically, his songs frequently cover bragging rights, relationships, love, guns, and crime.

Personal life: He is the son of rapper I-20 and has Liberian roots. He has two younger half-sisters and an older half-brother. He was homeschooled starting in sixth grade and later attended public school, where he has talked about past drug use, including Xanax. He has explained that the “Destroy” in Destroy Lonely came from his struggles, while “Lonely” reflects his feelings of isolation. In 2024, an ex-girlfriend accused him of domestic abuse, which he denied. In late 2024, a video showing him arguing with his girlfriend Shannade Clermont went viral; he said they were simply arguing.
